The back garden was designed to work around the new modern glazed extension to the property. The garden is split-level, with the large lower terraces linking to the living areas of the house and wide steps lead up to the lawn and other terraces linking to the raised extension.
Planting surrounds the lower terraces, providing year-round interest and some enclosure. Raised brick planter beds soften the boundary and provide privacy. A summerhouse with small patio is partially screened behind the raised beds and a large covered outdoor terrace ties in with the extension, where a green wall of evergreen climbers in corten steel troughs screens the boundary fence.
A curved retaining wall separates the front garden from the garage, drive and parking areas. A circular seating area catches the afternoon and evening sun close to the front door, and curved planting beds and lawn areas continue the theme.
